Types of Baseball Bets

There are many different types of baseball bets. Some bets are quite conventional, such as straight line bets, whereas some are quite unconventional, such as a proposition bet on an individual player’s batting average or a particular starting pitchers strike out rate. As baseball is very much a game of history and statistics, it is also possible to bet on player or team averages and performance. It is only recommended that the most seasoned and professional bettor bet at this level however. Although the return odds may be high, the risk is equally high as well. Some seasoned and professional bettors prefer proposition betting, that is, betting on an occurrence relating to the game of baseball. There are many different types of baseball bets that fall under the banner of a proposition bet.

The most common type of baseball bet is a a straight up line bet, where you bet on either the favorite or the underdog baseball team to win. These bets are best suited for the beginner bettors as the process behind the betting is not at all complicated to grasp. Bettors can outlay small amounts of money, and test their own various systems and strategies to gauge their success rate.

Another type of baseball bet is a Parlay. This is where the bettor makes a single bet on multiple events to increase their potential profits. If successful, the bettor stands to win a lot of money for a small initial outlay. The best way to think of a Parlay bet is that if you win, your bet doubles up, and it bets on the next event and so forth. If any one of the events you have placed your bet on goes against you, then you have lost your bet. Parlay bets are becoming a very popular type of baseball bet.
