Cavs Lose Game 6 and James Too?
As the Cavaliers lost to the Boston Celtics in Game 6 to end their participation in the Play-Offs all talk turned to the future of LeBron James and whether this was his last game for the Cleveland team that has been his home for the past seven years. Will James finally leave his home state of Ohio and leave behind his adoring fans who have helped create the LeBron James phenomenon?
Three teams; Chicago, Miami and New York are all looking likely to be competing for his signature this off season with Chicago looking more and likely. The Celtics fans made clear their prediction during the game last night chanting “New York Knocks” whenever Lebron featured prominently or was on the foul line. Incidentally James responded well to the taunts with a triple-double of 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists along with nine turnovers despite his team’s season ending loss.
In the postgame conference James defined his mindset heading into the summer:
“It’s all about winning for me, and I think the Cavs are committed to doing that but at the same time I’ve given myself options to this point, and like I said before, me and my team, we have a game plan that we’re going to execute, and we’ll see what we get.”
When asked about his time in Cleveland and what he thought of the people and the fans it was noteworthy that he used the past tense to all but confirm her would be leaving the Cavaliers:
“We had a great time together.”
The online betting world is confident that James will be at the Bulls next year with all indicators pointing that way. Chicago already have one of the best point guards in Derrick Rose a big man in Joakim Noah and their coaching vacancy may well be filled by John Calipari a good friend of James confidante William Wesley.
Miami is another notable option with Pat Riley talking up building a new dynasty and with Wade as one part of the puzzle already in place a player like James would be just what they need to show that Riley is more than just mouth. The Knicks are another good option for James as he has gone on record stating that New York is his favourite city and the draw of filling Madison Square Garden his favourite arena could be too much to avoid.
We wait and see but our money is on James playing at Chicago next year and potentially a parlay of them winning the Play-Offs would be worth a few units.
