EA Sports recruits Emelianenko

The global appeal of MMA is evident when one of the world’s biggest games manufacturers EA Sports, recruits the talents of the world’s best fighters. Headlining the EA Sports MMA due in 2010 will be a Russian heavyweight by the name of Fedor Emelianenko.

He is joined by Dutch-Armenian fighter Gegard Mousasi as two of the big names in EA Sports MMA, heading up a long playing list of fighters from all corners of the globe.

“I have fought all over the world and I am excited to be in EA SPORTS MMA because this game is going to show the global appeal of mixed martial arts,” said Emelianenko.

The Russian is well known to MMA fans and stands 6 foot tall and weighs 231 pounds. He excels in Sambo and Judo, holding a 30 to 1 record and the WAMMA heavyweight title.

Meanwhile, Gegard Mousasi, who is 6’ 1″ and 185 pounds is being pitted against Renato Sobral for the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight championship. Mousasi’s skills are based on Kickboxing and judo while Brazil’s Sobral is renowned for his grappling skills and aggressive attacking style, and has a 35–8 record.

EA believes that Emelianko and Mousasi will provide an exciting challenge for gamers, especially considering their reputation and huge popularity.

EA Sports MMA will be available on both PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, providing some of the best graphics and realistic fighting with MMA able to showcase all forms of fighting.

EA Sports will also be sponsoring Mousasi and Sobral in forthcoming Strikeforce bouts.
