Juice – this is the bookmaker’s commission which is also referred to as the ‘vigorish’. The standard juice is 10%.

Laying the Points – this is when you bet the favourite in a point spread betting line.

Limit – this is the limit placed on the betting for an event.

Line – this is the current betting odds on a specific event, the lines are updated in real time.

Linemaker – the person at the bookmakers who establishes the original betting line and the subsequent betting lines.

Longshot – this would be the team or person that is unlikely to win
