Middle – this is when you bet on both sides of a sporting event or race at different prices with the chance of winning both bets. Sometimes known as “middle the game” when you win.
MMA – stands for Mixed Martial Arts.
Moneyline – betting odds when your bet is settled by which team wins. For example, Moneyline New
York Giants -120 means NY Giants are the favourite, you bet $120 to win $100. The underdog Moneyline on the Miami Dolphins +120 means that if you bet $100 you would win $120.
Nickel Line – this is when the bookmaker’s commission is reduced to 5% and is sometimes known as the reduced juice.
Nickel – slang for $500, if you bet a nickel, you are betting $500 on that race.
No Action – this is when a bet gets cancelled, because the race or event didn’t happen, for example poor weather conditions. All your money is returned.
Odds – this is the likelihood of the outcome of a race or event, expressed in mathematical terms.
Off The Board – this is when the bookmaker is no longer accepting bets on an event or race.
Oddsmaker – this is the same as a linemaker.
One Dollar – slang for $100 bet.
Opening Line – this is known as the first betting line posted for a sporting event or race.
Over – this is a wager when you predict the combined scores of both teams will be above a specified total
