Golf betting: Tour Championships Picks
Golf betting with MrSportsbook a look at the markets to help you beat the sportsbook.
The PGA Tour has headed to East Lake GC in Atlanta Georgia for the finale of the FedEX Cup where one player will walk away with a staggering $10m bonus. That will be some pressure on the winning putt. Not many golfers would fancy a downhill left to right four footer for $10m but somebody has to win and we take a look at the market:
There are three names that instantly spring to mind when we look at this tournament: Phil Mickleson, Matt Kuchar and Paul Casey but we can fairly comfortably add Ernie Els to this list with his record at East Lake.
Phil Mickleson:
He has to be the number one pick, he’s in Georgia, he’s the defending champion, he has the world No.1 spot in his sights and he has only one victory this season. He surely can’t go through an entire year, and this of all years with only one victory. If he is able to keep his driver straight enough he will be a real threat.
Paul Casey:
Smarting from his inexplicable omission from the European Ryder Cup team he is playing some of his best golf of the year and a win at the Tour Championship would secure the FedEx Cup and a massive two fingered salute to Colin Montgomerie the size of his $10m cheque.
Matt Kuchar:
FedEx Cup points leader, playing unbelievable golf and seemingly impervious to pressure. He’s back to where it began for him at Georgia Tech and it could be an emotional return in front of what will be a partisan crowd. Hard to look past the likeable young pro and well worth a bet.
Ernie Els is perhaps not the obvious choice with players like Steve Stricker, Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson all possible but Els has four top 10 finishes from his last five starts at East Lake. He is also a win away from the PGA Tour Player of the year.
MrSportsbook’s Pick: Paul Casey would absolutely love to win this FedEx Cup and he is the game to do it. Monty could be in trouble before the Ryder Cup even starts. Back Casey all the way
