Men’s US Open tips for today
Its fourth round day at Flushing Meadows and there are some classic games in store today. Novak Djokovic is out to defend his title before Andy Roddick playing what could be his last ever professional match against Martin Del Portro tonight. Make sure you do your US Open betting with Paddy Power as they will refund any losing outright match bets if the game goes to a tie-break in the last set!

Stanislas Wawrinka (18) v Novak Djokovic (2)
20:00 Arthur Ashe Stadium
Head to head: 2-10
Djokovic has made serene progress at the US so far. He has only dropped 14 games in three matches and has barely broken sweat. Things haven’t been so easy for Wawrinka but you have to suspect that he will prove to be a much sterner test than Djokovic has come across before. I don’t see Djokovic losing this contest but Wawrinka is the kind of player that can have patches of outrageous tennis that you just can’t do much about. He won’t go down without a fight and I feel he will take one set off Djokovic.
Suggested bet: Djokovic 3-1 (Set Betting) @ 10/3
Richard Gasquet (13) v David Ferrer (4)
17:00 Louis Armstrong Stadium
Head to head: 1-7
The head-to-head record here reads like a big smack in the chops for Gasquet supporters. Gasquet is a great player to watch and has all the tools but Ferrer is just the type of player who will frustrate him. Once you get under Gasquet’s skin he can implode and you can be sure that will be Ferrer’s aim. Note that in all seven of Ferrer’s wins over Gasquet he has done so without Gasquet winning a single set so there is good reason to think that could happen again.
Suggested bet: Ferrer 3-0 (Set Betting) @ 7/5
Juan Martin Del Potro (7) v Andy Roddick (20)
00:00 Arthur Ashe Stadium
Head to head 3-1
Make sure you stay up to watch this clash. Roddick is walking the career ending tightrope every time he steps on court now so the pressure must be immense. On a normal day I would say Del Potro will take this and without that much trouble – but this is no normal day. Roddick still has the tools and he will let it all go out there against the much fancied Del Potro. I like Del Potro to win this 3-1 sets but if Roddick gets up early then the score could easily go the other way, so cover your bets and back this turning into a five set classic.
Selection: Five (Number of Sets) @ 3/1
