NCAA Basketball Betting: Providence Friars at Syracuse Orange
Bodog take a look at the Friars at Syracuse with this great basketball betting preview. We might not always agree with the online sportsbook but we applaud their efforts day in day out to bring you updates on basketball betting and other sports betting. Here’s what they have to say today about Providence’s trip to take on the Orange:
The Syracuse Orange will try to keep their perfect record intact Tuesday when they take on the Providence Friars. While the Orange have been dominant on the court, they’ve been miserable on NCAA basketball betting odds.
Syracuse (13-0, 2-7 ATS) is fresh off a 93-55 romp against Drexel last Saturday. The Orange haven’t faced a spread in their last two games, but they’ve at least shown some signs of life after failing to cover in their first five; they’ve gone 2-2 ATS since then.
The Orange are ranked fifth in the country. The offense is cranking out 77 points per game, but there’s no real killer in the group. Kris Joseph leads the team with 14 points per game, but he’s one of five players averaging over seven points per game this season; three different players are averaging double figures.
Rick Jackson has probably been the team’s most consistent player. The big man is averaging 13.9 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting a blistering 57.6 percent from the field. He posted his ninth double-double of the season against Drexel with 15 points and 12 boards. Jackson led the way with 25 points while adding seven rebounds.
Providence (11-2, 4-4 ATS) has won back-to-back games since losing 88-86 at Boston College. The Friars beat Sacred Heart 84-76 last Friday; there was no spread on the game, but they’ve covered four straight.
The Friars have a high-flying offense at 81 points per game, though their defense doesn’t measure up to ‘Cuse (68 points allowed to 59 points allowed per game). Sacred Heart shot 47.8 percent from the field in last week’s victory; the Friars will need a better effort against Syracuse.
Swingman Marshon Brooks leads the team with 23.1 points per game and is second in rebounding at 8.9 boards per outing. He dominated Sacred Heart, cranking out 25 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
