NFL Week 2 ‘Manning Bowl’ Preview

Denver Broncos @ New York Giants (Sunday 4.25pm ET/9.25pm BST)

Brothers Peyton and Eli Manning prepare to face each other as opposition quarterbacks for the third time at MetLife Stadium on Sunday after contrasting starts in Week 1.

Peyton’s Broncos opened their season in style as they crushed the Baltimore Ravens and racked up 49 points in the process.

Meanwhile, the Giants coughed up six turnovers and 36 points in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Eli Manning might boast more Super Bowl rings than his elder brother but so far he has lost both of their head-to-head match-ups.

At 37 years old, Peyton’s now an elder statesman of the league and this may well be the last chance Eli gets to score an NFL victory over his sibling.

In a neat statistical quirk, both players completed 27 of 42 passes last week for nearly identical yardage. But where Peyton had a record-tying seven touchdowns, Eli posted four scores and three interceptions.

Yet there is more to this game than sibling rivalry. Both teams have question marks in the backfield, with Denver failing to establish the run against Baltimore and New York’s David Wilson coughing up two fumbles in the defeat to Dallas.

Avoiding further turnovers is critical for the Giants, while the Broncos must hope to sustain a pass rush that sacked Joe Flacco four times.

Despite being on the road, the Broncos remain firm favourites at -210, with the Giants available as long as +180.

For British fans, Paddy Power are offering money back on all week 2 matches if the last touchdown is 25+ yards.
