No More Excuses
I can’t understand it. I’ll never understand it. Don’t waste time trying to explain it to me, because it won’t help. There is no good reason why Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. still haven’t agreed on terms for a mega fight yet. Think about this. It has been two years since they first sat down to get this done. Two years.
In that time period we’ve passed our new healthcare law. Middle eastern countries have overthrown their rulers so many times I think some rebels accidentally overthrew the guy they put into office. All this, but no fight. At this rate by the time they agree to deal, we’ll be able to host the fight on Mars. In 5D.
Mayweather claims that Manny won’t agree to strict drug testing. While Manny claims his only requirement is that he not have to give blood 3 days before the fight, and adding that he will willingly give a sample as soon as the fight is over. PBF (Pretty Boy Floyd) says they can’t agree on a percentage split. He seems insulted that Manny would want more money than him. Forget the fact that Pacquiao has titles in 8, EIGHT, weight classes. Forget the fact that Floyd came out of retirement.
And now chances of this fight ever happening took another blow when Mayweather Jr got after an altercation with his wife. I wonder how he will pin this one on Manny. The way Floyd talks, you’d think he’s trying to imitate Muhammad Ali. He talks an incredible amount of trash to his opponents. Legitimately believes he is God’s gift to boxing. And doesn’t appear to have a humble bone in his body. All that is good. Maybe you have to be like that to be a successful fighter. I honestly don’t know.
What I do know is this. Ali never ducked anyone. He fought anyone, anytime, anywhere. Including fights he could and did lose. And that is why he is the greatest. If Mayweather Jr. really wants to be mentioned in the same sentence as Ali, he better be willing to do the same. Someone tell this guy when Ali said “float like a butterfly” he meant to avoid your opponent in the ring. It looks as if Mayweather is determined to avoid Pacquiao all together.
If he does it will officially be a TKO for boxing. At least Pretty Boy will be able to finish his career with a knockout.
