Premier League Final Day Betting Preview

Yaya ToureAfter a season of twists and turns at the top and bottom of the Premier League, who’d have thought that the season would end in such an anti-climax?

Thanks to a unique set of circumstances, namely a number of sides superior goal difference, all of this season’s major talking points appear to be settled prior to the final day.

The one outstanding issue is the Premier League title.

A famous comeback from Crystal Palace on Monday night saw the Eagles overturn a three-goal deficit against Liverpool to earn a dramatic point at Selhurst Park.

The next evening, Manchester City thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 after a nervy start, to ensure even a draw against West Ham on the final day will see the Citizens claim their second title in three years.

Yaya Touré reached the landmark of 20 Premier League goals for the season on Wednesday night; a hat-trick 11/1 against the Hammers on Sunday would see him beat Frank Lampard’s record of 22 goals from midfield in a single season.

Liverpool will want to score early at home against Newcastle to put some pressure on City. As seen all season, the Reds can score from a number of different positions and perhaps the best value lies with Steven Gerrard to score first at 13/2 given his monopoly over penalties and set-pieces.

Those backing an upset may want to look to Andy Carroll, the ex-Red is 3/1 to score anytime against City – and a goal on Sunday would go some way to repaying the £35million transfer fee Liverpool spent on Carroll before his move to West Ham.
